Remembering Mr. Gene Barnes

September 1, 2017 by Penny Gillilan Clevenger (Register to contact)

He recognized something in me that I didn't see in myself, although I sang with my Christian family since the age of 5 on many a stage, both church and public. Here I am today, married to an Ordained Bishop of the Church of God, Cleveland, TN., Pastoring a church outside of St. Louis, Mo., writing music that I had been praying around with at the age of 13 and now is being published and used with gospel groups and choirs. My latest cd was recorded in 2016 under Tim Greene of the Singing Greene Family. He was very encouraging and helped me to believe in my gift for music. I never have and never will forget his leadership.

God bless his family and friends. God bless my fellow classmates.

Penelope (Gillilan) Clevenger, 1979
